FAQ
Is this another tool my team has to learn?+
Sematic is designed around the APCM work your team already does: enroll the patient, build the plan, follow up on clinical signals, document activity, and bill the month. The difference is that those steps run in one guided workspace instead of across spreadsheets, chart review, and billing queues.
How does Sematic work with athenahealth?+
Sematic connects through the athenahealth workflow so teams can launch APCM work from the patient context, use chart and coverage data, and keep documentation organized for care and billing review.
Why do I need a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Sematic Health?+
athenahealth requires all marketplace partners to have a BAA with practices using their integrations. We have a standard BAA ready as part of your setup. Just give us your: Legal Entity Name, Main Address, Signatory's Name, and Signatory's Email Address. We'll send you the BAA through Common Paper to make signing easy.
What is the athenahealth Authorize & Consent (A&C) form and how do I submit it?+
The Authorize and Consent form is required by athenahealth to enable third-party integrations like Sematic Health. After you sign up for Sematic Health, our team will walk you through the A&C process and submit it to athenahealth for you. athenahealth will email you to confirm they received it, then send another email when it's approved and the integration is ready. Once approved, you can access Sematic Health's APCM tools directly from patient charts in athenahealth.
How does Sematic Health sync with athenahealth patient data?+
Sematic Health syncs with athenahealth in real-time. When you open a patient through the integration, Sematic automatically pulls their clinical data, demographics, and care history. Any APCM activities you document in Sematic - including care events, care plans, and billing information - are automatically saved back to athenahealth as structured notes, keeping your patient records complete and current.
Can multiple providers in my practice use the integration?+
Yes! Sematic Health is built for team-based care. Once the integration is enabled for your practice, any authorized provider can access Sematic Health's APCM tools. Each provider gets their own login and can work together on patient care plans, share care events, and track team activities - all synced through athenahealth.
What if we are just starting APCM?+
The product supports practices launching from zero as well as teams scaling an existing program. Onboarding focuses on patient identification, staff workflow, consent, billing cadence, and operating metrics.
Is the product built for compliance-sensitive work?+
Yes. Sematic is built for clinical and revenue operations with HIPAA expectations, BAAs, role-based access, audit logs, and traceable eligibility and billing evidence.
